This month’s Emerging Talent, selected by @thecolumbist , is artist Özcan Ertek @ozcanertek , whose work explores the space between tradition, technology, and the stories we tell about the future.

Presented as part of TEDxBerlin: A World With AI, Future Visioning reimagines the centuries-old ritual of Turkish coffee fortune-telling through the lens of artificial intelligence.

But this is more than an installation — it’s a choice.

As you begin the experience, you decide who you trust: a human interpreter or an AI system.

That single decision determines whether your coffee reading is delivered through traditional symbolism and intuition, or through AI-powered pattern recognition and machine-generated interpretation.

The experience invites participants to reflect on trust, imagination, and what happens when machines begin interpreting symbols, stories, and uncertainty alongside us.
