Devil’s Rope: Global Flows

-kinetic sound installation-

Barbed Wire, Turnbuckle, Speaker, Amplifier, MAX, Arduino, Microphone Stand

“Devil’s Rope” is a kinetic sound installation exploring the complexities of global human mobility. For over a century, barbed wire has been utilized extensively to demarcate territorial boundaries and define spaces, shaping identities. Thanks to its success in deterring human bodies, it has become an emblem of border(ing). The work uses barbed wire to reflect on the interplay between body, borders, sound, and space. Drawing on data from various geographical borders, it transforms the material presence of barbed wire into a sonic representation of the tensions and movements shaping global mobility.
